if you’re ninteen or older, you may be able to refer teens through our affiliate pyramid scheme program.
how much does it cost to participate?
absolutely nothing on your end^! thanks to our incredible donors, hack club programs are absolutely free for participants so they can ideate, create and execute without having to worry about the financial aspect and focus solely on creating and iterating!
^customs charges incurred on any shipments will not be covered by hack club and remains the responsibility of participants. please don’t request us to reimburse these as we would unfortunately not be able to do so.
how many projects can we make?
as many as you like! we just ask that you only do one of each starter project and don’t create 1:1 copies of tutorials.
do i have to have prior experience?
not at all! we welcome beginners and provide resources and tools to help you learn and build your project successfully.
what is craftronics?
craftronics is an extended in-person hackathon component of tether that we’re planning to host in location tbd for tether partcipants to come together and build in person. to qualify for craftronics, each indidvual must build at least 3 hardware projects (logging ~45 hours per individual even if you’re building a team project) that go beyond exact copies of the tutorials. after your projects have been reviewed and you’ve reached the 45 hour mark, you’ll receive an form to fill out and upon a craftronics review (done separately from general tether project review), you’ll earn your ticket to craftronics! flight stipends are available!
what are charms
if you requested a grant, you get three to five charms per hour of hands-on work after you get your grant, depending on the tier. this could be assembling, fixing cad, soldering etc. if you didn’t request a grant, you get three to five charms per hour of all the hands-on time you spent on your project, depending on the tier! you must actually build the project (and record it in your journal) for this to count.
you can spend your charms in the trove to get tools and parts for your next project. the more charms you have, the better stuff you can get.
